Indigestion - Chinese Medicine explanation and treatment

Snatched meals, eating too quickly or overeating can lead to indigestion. Smoking, eating rich, fatty foods and drinking too much alcohol or coffee can also be contributory factors.

The Chinese Medicine view is that indigestion is normally due to a weakness of the stomach and spleen. Tonic herbs will be used to ease digestion and some kind of diet prescribed to control the appetite. Chinese Herbs such as hawthornberry, wheat and rice sprouts and chicken gizzard can ease the discomfort.
