Phlebitis - Chinese Medicine explanation and treatment

Phlebitis is an inflammation of a vein, usually in the leg and is associated with the formation of blood clots. Chinese Medicine says that heat and poison in the blood vessels are causing a blockage. In cases of phlebitis the heat must first be cleared, the blood cooled. a Chinese Medicine practitioner will also flush out the poison with peony bark, saffron, lovage tuber, Chinese golden thread or rhubarb root. Phlebitis is slow to respond to Chinese herbal medicine but the condition can be alleviated in many cases, and sometimes cured.
