Tic - Chinese Medicine explanation and treatment

Tic is a nervous twitch of a muscle in the face, also known as habit spasm. In children, it is often the result of a nervous disposition. Often they are unaware of the tic, and it is best not to call attention to it. In most cases it will disappear of its own accord. There is no treatment in orthodox medicine, and unless a tic is particularly obvious, and causes embarrassment, it should be forgotten.

Chinese Medicine sees a tic as a problem of wind in the liver, which can be caused by the heat of the liver or by a liver blood deficiency. Chinese Medicine treatment is directed at both the cause of the wind heat or the deficiency, and the symptoms.
