Vertigo - Chinese Medicine explanation and treatment

Vertigo sufferers feel that their head is spinning when in fact it is quite still. Vertigo is often triggered by fear of falling from a height, or during bouts of nausea and vomiting. Vertigo can be caused by inflammation of the balance organ in the inner ear, or by some other ear disorder. It is a frequent symptom in cases of high blood pressure.

Chinese Medicine identifies three possible causes of vertigo: a deficiency of the blood and the qi (common in old people or after serious illness), or liver wind or phlegm in the body. Each is easily treated with herbs, once a Chinese Medicine practitioner has isolated the cause.
