[Source] Mai Men Dong - the root tuber of Ophiopogon japonicus (Thunb.) Ker. Gawl., family Liliaceae.
[Function] Mai Men Dong nourishes yin and moistens the lung, benefits the stomach and generates body fluids, clears heat in the heart and alleviates irritability.
[Application] Mai Men Dong is used for dry cough with sticky sputum due to lung-dryness and cough with blood due to deficiency of the internal organs. It can be used for dry mouth, thirst and constipation due to the insufficiency of stomach-yin.
