Ascending and Descending
Ascending and descending are the moving directions of qi or energy. The qi of each organ may differ from others in its movement. For example, liver-qi is ascending, lung-qi is descending, spleen-qi is ascending, and stomach-qi is descending. These are the normal directions for the movement of qi in these organs, if the direction is the other way round then imbalance will occur in the organ which could lead to illness.
