Four Natures of Chinese herbs
The Four Natures refers to the four properties of Chinese medicinal herbs: cold, hot, warm and cool. Cold/cool herbs are yin in nature and the warm/hot ones are yang. Chinese medicinal herbs with cold/cool nature can clear heat, purge fire, eliminate toxic materials and are mainly used for heat-syndrome. Herbs with a warm/hot nature have the action of expelling cold, restoring yang, and are mainly used for cold-syndrome.
