Summer Heat
Summer-heat, one of the six climatic pathogenic factors (ie a quality in the environment or climate which can cause disease), is as its name suggests, a condition usually arising from excessive heat in summertime, ie a heatwave. An attack by summer-heat can also be due to low adaptability of the body to the environment. Diseases caused by summer-heat are usually marked by a series of yang symptoms such as high fever, reddish complexion, thirst with preference for cold drink and a full and large pulse.

Summer heat often combines with dampness to manifest as certain types of illness.
