Tuina or Chinese Therapeutic Massage

This ancient Chinese healing art is quite different from other forms of massage, using finger pressure, stretching and leverage to stimulate the channels and acupuncture points. It is often used in conjunction with acupuncture, and is not only an effective treatment for musculo-skeletal problems, such as lower-back pain, frozen shoulder, slipped discs and fractures, but can also be effective for many other conditions, for example digestive problems and insomnia. In addition, Tuina is effective for stress relief and relaxation, and to stimulate the body's organs via special points, helping to prevent illness and improve both mental and physical vitality.

Professional Certificated Training in Tuina

The Asanté College offers a complete training course in Tuina. Trainees will acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to practice this valuable therapy safely and effectively on adults and children.

The Tuina training course will provide the participants with an opportunity to study the basic theories underpinning Tuina therapy and to learn and practice more than 20 different Tuina manipulation techniques.

Syllabus

The use of the basic Tuina techniques, which constitute the core syllabus of the whole course, will be explored comprehensively in the class. The practice of these techniques after the classes will be encouraged.

The following topics are covered:

  • Revision of acupuncture theory and important acupoints (where applicable)
